    Photographs

I have been taking a lot of photographs of the church recently. In particular of the graveyard. While I am outside with the boys some of the Victorian designs of the gravestones really stand out. The slate stones are some of my favourites. The weathered floral imagery is just so beautiful. The pattern of the text ‘In loving memory of’…

    A break away.

We have just returned from a much needed break in our dear caravan. We travelled down to the Quantock Hills in Somerset. Spent our days fossil hunting on the beaches… The coastline was lined with banks of wildflowers which were a delight. We dodged the showers and had some wonderful walks up and down ‘coombs’. And cycled up and over…

    9 Years!

Nine years ago today we became the proud owners of this fabulous Victorian church. It’s been an amazing journey so far. Molded arches

The tins of Yellow Drab and Indian Yellow, from Fired Earth have been cracked open… aaahhhh! Inspired by the yellows in the stained glass in the windows of the west end of the church (in what will be our bedroom), they have been used on the molded arches above each window. Extremely fiddly to paint, very tense! The wall has…

    Happy 150th Birthday!

Today marks the 150th Birthday of the 4th Earl of Powis, George Charles Herbert. He was a great benefactor to Christ Church and is buried along side his family just outside the church. He married Lady Violet in 1890 and had three children, two sons and a daughter. Unfortunately both of his sons died young, killed in action in both…
