    9 Years!

Nine years ago today we became the proud owners of this fabulous Victorian church. It’s been an amazing journey so far. We have learned so much, not only about restoration, building and the building’s heritage but learned a lot about ourselves. This project has become our life and what a fascinating one it is! We’re not tired of it yet,…

    A busy weekend…

We had a fantastic turnout to our Open Days this weekend. 105 visitors dodged the showers to have a look round our displays and to view the interior of the nave. We are so touched by everyone’s support and encouragement. To have such positive feedback really helps us to keep going!

    Molded arches

The tins of Yellow Drab and Indian Yellow, from Fired Earth have been cracked open… aaahhhh! Inspired by the yellows in the stained glass in the windows of the west end of the church (in what will be our bedroom), they have been used on the molded arches above each window. Extremely fiddly to paint, very tense! The wall has…

He married Lady Violet in 1890 and had three children, two sons and a daughter. Unfortunately both of his sons died young, killed in action in both…

    Our ‘Secret’ Garden

Our garden is really beginning to bloom and is looking quite mature. Though with all this rain and high winds its hard to enjoy it at the moment. I’m sure Lady Violet would have appreciated it when she used to attend Christ Church as its situated at the gate where the Powis family entered the church yard.

    Room 2 finished!

The second bedroom is now finished. The walls have been painted in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Shaded White’ and the woodwork in Little Greene’s ‘Lead Colour’. The doors were ebay salvage, as were the bakelite door handles. This will become Fred and Victor’s room, though at the moment its too unsafe up there for them to use it. We are slowly…
