    Christ Church from the air

An unusual view of Christ Church! Image of the Week #86 There have been some significant birthdays in the family recently, not least our eldest son turning 18 (how did that happen so quickly!) so something a little different to remember the day – a short helicopter ride to have an unusual perspective of the locality. the apple tree – may

The apple tree in the churchyard is smothered in blossom. During our time here, I don’t think it’s ever had so much blossom before. The tree is obviously benefiting from the extra light and air. It’s looking hopeful for a bumper crop of apples!           And underneath the apple tree grow Germander Speedwell, Bush Vetch,…

Around the country our native bluebell woods are giving a spectacular show right now, so I thought this section of Lady Violet’s memorial window would be very appropriate for the season. Image of the Week #85

A section of a stained glass window in the north west corner of the church, with a suitable Easter theme. We hope that you all had a lovely Easter. We had a wonderful few days away in sunny Dolgellau, walking in the mountains. I’m not sure that we’ve come back rested, but certainly refreshed. Image of the Week #83

Up in the belfry there is a signature of possibly one of the original church builders. We spent the afternoon re-pointing the walls up there. It is so exposed that the mortar inside the walls gets washed away. There is evidence of a lot of previous re-pointing work up there. Image of the Week #82

    the apple tree – april

I’d left photographing the apple tree for this months Tree Following post until today, waiting for the light to be just right but after a weekend of low cloud and drizzle today had to be the day. My heart sank when I opened the door this morning to pouring rain and prepared myself for some pretty gloomy shots. But…

The camellias are giving a good show in the flower border adjacent to the church and they don’t seem to mind a bit of scaffolding! This border was originally planted up by the gardeners of Powis Castle as it is next to the Powis family tombs. Image of the Week #81
