An afternoon with Colin Rogers
Last Saturday we had a wonderful afternoon when we hosted a talk to over 70 people. The afternoon comprised of a talk and slideshow by Natalie about the history of Christ Church and an overview of the restoration works completed so far. After an interval of tea and cake, along with some of Natalie’s elderflower cordial, Colin Rogers shared a collection of fabulous old photographs of Welshpool. We were all very well entertained. It was enlightening to see some of the stunning old buildings Welshpool once had. Always so generous in sharing his knowledge of Welshpool past, there is always something new to learn from listening to one of Colin’s talks.

To see the pews of Christ Church full of people was so fantastic. The feedback and the overall sense of support was very humbling and uplifting.
A huge thank you must go to Sheila Beedles who had the inspiration to organise the event to help raise funds for the restoration of Christ Church and help keep public access to the building. After helping to publicise the event, she along with Heather, Liz and Wendy baked a fabulous array of cakes for the interval and gave so much help to the smooth running of the afternoon by showing people to their seats and serving teas. It was a real community event and we are extremely appreciative of their support. We are also very grateful to Alexanders of Welshpool for selling tickets on our behalf.
The afternoon has certainly given us a boost to push forward with the restoration of the nave so that we can have other similar afternoons.
