    Image of the Week #6

This one’s for Owen, our eldest son who spotted the colours of these trees earlier this week when we were up in the tower. He has just arrived in Canada, on an exchange trip, and is no doubt enjoying the Canadian fall. We are all missing him terribly but are also very proud of his brave adventuring spirit! He has…

    Image of the Week #2

This week’s Image of the Week has a seasonal flavour. Rosehips adorn the wild Dog Rose bush in the garden. I’ll be rounding up the boys this afternoon to pick these (leaving some for the birds!) to make Rosehip Syrup. This is an annual activity and the resulting syrup, full of Vitamin C, really helps to keep winter colds at…

    Repointing

This weekend was dedicated to doing some much needed repointing on the tower parapet wall. The top of the tower is the most exposed part of the building, getting the worst of the weather from all directions. Sons #1 and #2 worked very hard helping to carry all the equipment and buckets of lime mortar up to the top of…

    A big day…

It’s been a big day today for our eldest son Owen, who received his GCSE results. He did very well with a good collection of A* and A grades, a couple of B’s and a C in Welsh First Language which is a small miracle as we aren’t a Welsh speaking family! Restoration life doesn’t seem to have hindered his…

    Thank you!

A very big thank you to all 75 people that came to our Open Day on Sunday. It was a fantastic day despite the showers! We really enjoyed meeting everyone and hearing your thoughts about the church and our work. It was lovely to see some familiar faces, returning to see how we are progressing as well as meeting a…

    A break away.

We have just returned from a much needed break in our dear caravan. We travelled down to the Quantock Hills in Somerset. Spent our days fossil hunting on the beaches… The coastline was lined with banks of wildflowers which were a delight. We dodged the showers and had some wonderful walks up and down ‘coombs’. And cycled up and over…

    9 Years!

Nine years ago today we became the proud owners of this fabulous Victorian church. It’s been an amazing journey so far. We have learned so much, not only about restoration, building and the building’s heritage but learned a lot about ourselves. This project has become our life and what a fascinating one it is! We’re not tired of it yet,…

    Our ‘Secret’ Garden

Our garden is really beginning to bloom and is looking quite mature. Though with all this rain and high winds its hard to enjoy it at the moment. I’m sure Lady Violet would have appreciated it when she used to attend Christ Church as its situated at the gate where the Powis family entered the church yard.
